DXC’s Autism@Work Programme
The DXC Dandelion Program is a paid employment programme designed to identify and recruit people from within the autistic community and provide the necessary workplace and job related skills to help build a career. This is done in a supported team environment with team members who are skilled in working with people on the autism spectrum.
The work will performed on site 5 days a week at our offices in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
Background
At DXC, one of our accounts has openings for Cloud Application Developers for varying skill levels. However, you will need some prior application development experience for this role. That experience may have been gained at college, university or through other work experience.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that designs and builds cloud-based software solutions using platforms like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, and also private cloud environments.
What you will be doing
As part of the DXC Dandelion Programme you will be working with the DXC team to learn how to:
Work with other people in different job roles to understand the project goals, technical requirements, and business needs
Help the customer understand and use new technologies and methods
Build automated solutions that solve problems for the customer
Make sure your solutions are secure and meet security rules
Design systems that can handle a lot of users and are reliable
Helpful Skills and Technologies
You do not need to know all of these to apply. These are commonly used in the role, and experience with any of them is helpful:
Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop
Programming languages: Python, Go, React
Front-end development: JavaScript frameworks, HTML5, CSS3
Web servers: NGINX, Apache, JBoss
Application deployment in cloud environments
API development and integration
DevOps tools: Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence), Git, Bitbucket, Subversion
Working with databases: Understanding of database structure and query languages
Understanding asynchronous programming (running tasks at the same time)
Working knowledge of secure cloud configuration
Knowledge of authentication and identity systems: ADFS, SSL/TLS certificates, OIDC, OAUTH2, Keycloak, Red Hat SSO
